Mid straw with green highlights at the rim. Aromas of earth, leather, caramel, vanilla, and dry hay. Tart apples with a hint of citrus forward. Shows light pears and sur lees yeasty flavors in a buttery texture but with enough citrus so that the lactic characteristics do not overwhelm. Oak is present but not over stated. Slightly spicy medium finish of lemon with subdued black pepper. Fruit is a ghost throughout this strident, earthy, and somewhat brooding Chardonnay. Nicely crafted and carefully restrained.
