Shows a lovely medium gold in the glass with golden highlights. Complex floral and perfumed bouquet with bread, slate, tangerine, and lemon creams; aromas open in the glass toward more fruit themes. Eastern European oak fermentation adds an elegant sweet smoothness to the nose. Medium bodied Chardonnay opens on ripe peaches and restrained citrus notes of Meyers lemon and tangerine. Develops and undercurrent of pineapple, mango, and pepper on the mid palate. Finish shows grapefruit over complex oak notes, toast, pepper, holiday spices, on a classic Finger Lakes slate minerality; medium length. Oak is not totally integrated but should be good with another year or two in the bottle. Fruit and acid are sufficient to allow another five years of aging to 2013. Overall the wine displays a good balance between the cellar and vineyard. Shows a moderately creamy mouth feel without getting buttery; balanced by good acids and fruit notes. Surprising how different the 2004 is compared to the 2003, but still the Ingle vineyard does not disappoint. Good as an aperitif or pair with full flavored marine fish simply grilled or with acid based sauces.
