Dark inky violet and garnet solid to the rim on Wolffer’s Christian's Cuvee from the Hamptons. Produced in memory of the winery’s founder Christian Wolffer the wine is 83% estate Merlot, 14% North Fork Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2% estate Cabernet Franc. It spent nearly two years on new French Oak. Bouquet is aromatic and deep showing plum, thistle, mocha, and cocoa. Flavors of ripe black plum and black cherries open on a markedly fruit driven palate. Develops earth contrasts of spices, white pepper and a hint of bay leaf. Big acids and smooth well integrated tannins provide a solid structure for the lush ripe full bodied wine to work within. Striking and long finish continues fruit themes and earth contrasts; excellent complexity and concentration. Probably too big for an aperitif. Pair with grilled steak or lamb chops.
