Medium golden colors in the glass similar tones to an aged chardonnay. Bouquet is quite floral and sweet with rose petals and winter spices; quite pretty. Ripe fruit and floral flavors of peach and roses with nutmeg, and allspice pedal tones. Smooth textures with a touch of acid counterpoint on a medium bodies frame. Shows restraint and balance in a closely held palate. With this carefully constructed wine Lenz is showing increasing mastery with the varietal. Gewurztraminer is quite different and more difficult on Long Island than in the Finger Lakes because it can sometime be overripe robbing the wine of its characteristic acid zest. Finish opens with a bold acid spike. Minerals, spices, and consistent floral tones with characteristic lychee nuts flavors. Good as a winter aperitif. Pair with southern Indian poultry or fish especially prepared with fragrant sauces.
